So this is it . . . my biography . . . Let’s start with the basics. My name is Breeanna Pierce and I grew up in a small town in Northwest Iowa. When I graduated high school, I joined the Army National Guard and shortly after my training was finished, I deployed to Iraq as a photojournalist and graphic artist. Now I’m back in Iowa, living with my awesome border collie, Indy, performing with our local theatre company, and playing my cello whenever possible. But when I’m not playing fetch or searching for new sheet music, I write. I can’t even call writing a hobby, because it feels more like an addiction, but I figure there are worse things to be addicted to. I blame Beauty and the Beast. I was OBSESSED with that movie and wanted to be just like Belle. So of course, I read and I read and I read. Many nights were spent reading instead of sleeping . . . woops.
Fast forward a few years, my 8th grade English teacher introduced me to fiction writing. I wrote my first “book” that year, but like most novels written by a 14-year-old, it wasn’t exactly publishable. So when I was 16, I scrapped the 300-page document and started on a whole new project. Ten years later, I have completed drafts for the first four books in a contemporary fantasy series originally meant for YA.
Now, that series is getting an adult overhaul. The first book in the series, A BANSHEE’S SCREAM, is currently on the glorious[ly painful] journey of submission, rejection and [hopefully] publication. Here’s to the wild ride that is writing.
Bree, You have so many talents and now blogging is one of them. Love this!

It’s going well, thank you 🙂 I’m nearly ready to start applying all the changes to the first draft 🙂 How’s yours going?

My year has been super productive in terms of getting drafts done. A lot of time was spent learning how to write better prose, but I think the work show it, so I’m content. I just hope it pays off when I go to query in a couple months. *Eek!*

Good luck with your query, I hope it works out for you 🙂 I’m tempted to query mine when it’s ready but I won’t hope for anything until I’ve done this trilogy and have moved on to the next story. It’s more out of curiosity, I want the experience of self-publishing first I think.

Thanks, I hope so too! XD
I understand the perks and appeals of self-publishing, but I know that I’m limited in my abilities to edit and market myself. I feel like I need the assistance that’s offered by a literary agent and traditional editor. Also, there are a lot of hybrid authors out there (folks who traditionally and self-pub). So you’re never stuck with one option… Yay, 21st Century!
